Carter's Review

This attractive, mid-block, 7-story rental apartment building at 50 North 1st Street between Kent and Wythe avenues in Williamsburg was erected in 2013.

It has 46 apartments and was developed by Largo Investments and designed by Philip Toscano and MDIM Architects.

Construction started in 2009 by 50 North First Partners LLC of which Nicholas E. Werner was a member, but was halted by a partial collapse of an adjacent building.

In late 2013 it was acquired by Property Markets Group, which is headed by Kevin Maloney, and Property Markets Group then sold it to Kushner Companies, which is headed by Jared Kushner.

Bottom Line

One and a half blocks from the East River, this handsome apartment house is in one of the most attractive sections of Brooklyn.

Description

This red-brick building has a large, plain and mostly blank center pier although early renderings indicated it was decorated with three vertical stripes that brought the composition together quite nicely.  It still have a variegated fenestration pattern and the glass-railed balconies are nice and being so close to the East River is a big plus.

Amenities

The building has a roof deck, a fitness center, a garage and storage.
