Carter's Review

This large and handsome, 7-story, rental apartment building at 50 North 5th Street between Wythe Avenue and North 4th Street in Williamsburg, Brooklyn is about a block-and-half from the East River State Park.

It has 235 apartments including 46 “affordable” units.

It was development by the Urban Development Partners and the Area Property Partners and designed by SCLE. Cl-oth did the interiors.

It was completed in 2014 on the former site of the Western Carpet Company.

Bottom Line

This very attractive and large development is very close to the State of New York East River State Park in Williamsburg and boasts a slew of amenities in its multi-level large courtyard.

Description

This red-brick building has a very large, multi-level courtyard with about 15,000 square feet of amenities.

It has several very large marquees and corner windows.

It also has handsome masonry that is laid vertically in the spandrels and horizontally in the piers that are scored vertically.  Two of the floors have metal spandrels that have raised circles as decorations.

Amenities

The building has a large lobby with a revolving door and two lounges and a “breakfast station” that leads to the courtyard with a large fountain, a bocce ball court, and a two-level fitness center with an indoor basketball court. A May 13, 2014 article by Jeremiah Budin at ny.curbed.com said that the building’s management issued an e-mail that said that residents “must use the service entrance when taking their pets out for a walk” and that the pets must be leashed.
