This attractive, red-brick building at 55 North Fifth Street between Kent and Wythe avenues in Williamsburg is known as Fifth & Wythe. The 7-story building has 164 rental apartments.
It was erected in 2016 by L & M Development Partners and designed by GF55 Partners.
The building is very close to the East River.
Bottom Line
The building is notable for its large, rear, second-floor courtyard with long planters with tall and thin metal arches, hammocks and an extremely attractive rear wooden wall with indented planters geometrically placed seemingly randomly.
Description
The red-brick building has a long façade along North 5th Street with a large rear courtyard on the second floor facing a glass-enclosed tenant lounge. The 10,500-square-foot courtyard, which has hammocks and long planters with tall and thin metal arches, has a long, wooden wall with inset planters in an attractive, geometric pattern.
The ground floor has retail shop windows beneath small marquees.
The top floor is partially set back and has dark metal façades and the spandrels on the second through the sixth floors are also dark metal.
