Carter's Review

This large, red-brick apartment tower at 200 East 94th Street was designed by Davis, Brody for The Related Companies and completed as a 455-unit rental in 1986.

It was converted to a condominium with 339 units in 2014.

It is one of the few buildings in Manhattan with a major curve, which provides many apartments with very broad bay windows. The developer also used a similar, but much larger, curve for another major development nearby, the Monterey at 175 East 86th Street that was designed by Costas Kondylis and completed in 1992.

The building is also known as 1663 Third Avenue and 201 East 93rd Street.

A subway station is at Lexington and 96th Street and crosstown bus service is also available on 96th Street.

Bottom Line

The building overlooks the Carnegie Hill neighborhood, one of the most desirable in the city, to the west and this area became very lively in the mid-90's as there are many restaurants and nice shops in the vicinity and a major wine and liquor store is nearby.

Description

Its tower is flanked by low-rise bases on the avenue and the side-street and the building's red-brick façade nicely complements the large Ruppert Plaza development a couple of blocks south on the avenue.

Amenities

This 30-story building has a fitness center, a bicycle room, a doorman, a concierge, a skylit recreation room and sundeck, a private garden, a swimming pool, video security and it permits small dogs. It also offers maid, valet and dry cleaning services.

It is a smoke-free building.
