Carter's Review
This 21-story, white-brick apartment house is in a prime family neighborhood close to some of the city's finest schools and the attractive Carl Schurz Park and the Mayor's Mansion along the East River. The 174-unit building was erected in 1966 and converted to a cooperative in 1979. The building has several setbacks near its top that form a pleasant, clean composition and provide some terraces with fine views. The building has no balconies. York Avenue is has relatively little traffic in this area and Sotheby's, the auction house, is a short bus ride away down the avenue at 72nd Street, and crosstown buses run frequently on 86th Street. The area is not close to subways and fashionable boutiques, although many restaurants are fairly close.
