This 21-story, white-brick apartment house is in a prime family neighborhood close to some of the city's finest schools and the attractive Carl Schurz Park and the Mayor's Mansion along the East River. The 174-unit building was erected in 1966 and converted to a cooperative in 1979. The building has several setbacks near its top that form a pleasant, clean composition and provide some terraces with fine views. The building has no balconies. York Avenue is has relatively little traffic in this area and Sotheby's, the auction house, is a short bus ride away down the avenue at 72nd Street, and crosstown buses run frequently on 86th Street.
