River East Plaza, 402 East 90th Street: Review and Ratings

between First Avenue & East End Avenue View Full Building Profile

Carter Horsley
Review of 402 East 90th Street by Carter Horsley

This 12-story apartment building between First and York Avenues opened as a condominium in 1983. The 83-unit building was converted from a commercial structure that had some arched windows on the fifth floor. The arches remain on the façade, although the windows on that floor are now on top of the arches rather than beneath them. The doorman building, which has a canopied entrance, is not far from Carl Schurz Park and its East River promenade. It is also close to the Asphalt Green Recreation Center along the river as well as to some of the city's finest schools and Doctors' Hospital on East End Avenue. The building is fairly far from the Lexington Avenue express subway at 86th Street, but 86th Street has excellent cross-town bus service. This area of Yorkville has undergone considerable change in recent decades and many restaurants and good neighborhood services are nearby.
