Carter's Review
This handsome, 34-story apartment building at 444 East 82nd Street has 408 rental apartments and one of the city's most pronounced horizontal façade treatments.
The white-brick building, which is known as Clermont Tower, has a canopied entrance, a concierge, a garage, balconies, a revolving front door, and consistent fenestration.
It has spiked sidewalk landscaping and no health club.
Many of the apartments on higher floors have excellent views.
There is good cross-town bus service on 86th and 79th Streets, but subway stations are not nearby.
There is a southbound entrance to the FDR Drive at 79th Street and Carl Schurz Park and some excellent private schools are nearby.
The building was designed by Robert L. Bien and was erected in 1964. Its indented corners give it a crisp, modern look.
