Carter's Review

This attractive, 16-story building at 200 West 108th Street on the south corner at Amsterdam Avenue on the Upper West Side was erected in 1929 and was converted in 1989 to 111 co-operative apartments. 

It was erected by the 200 West 108th Street Corporation of which Jacob Schulz was president and was designed by Gronenberg & Leuchtag. 

The building has ground floor retail and convenient public transportation. 

Bottom Line

An attractive, pre-war, mid-rise corner building with an impressive lobby that is close to Straus Park and convenient retail and not far from the Cathedral Church of St. John The Divine.

Description

The red-brick building has a one-story stone base with a canopied entrance with a surround and the second and third stories have rope quoins at the corners and some arched windows on the third floor. 

The 14th and 15th floors has some paired window surrounds. 

The building has a large lobby with a coffered ceiling. 

The building has protruding air-conditioners.

The building has a roof deck, a part-time doorman, a live-in superintendent and a bicycle room.

Apartment 17CD is a two-bedroom unit with an entry foyer that leads to a 20-foot-long living room that opens onto a 16-foot-long dining area next to an enclosed and windowed 13-foot-wide kitchen. 

Apartment 16A is a two-bedroom unit with an entry foyer across from a 17-foot-long, enclosed and windowed kitchen and a 20-foot-long living room. 

Apartment 14A is a two-bedroom unit with a 10-foot-long entry foyer across from an enclosed and windowed, 17-foot-long, eat-in kitchen, and a 21-foot-foot-long living room. 

Apartment 3G is a one-bedroom unit with an entry foyer into the 11-foot-wide dining area that opens onto the 20-foot-long living room with an open kitchen with an island. 

Apartment 11C is a one-bedroom unit with a 9-foot-long entry foyer next to a 10-foot-long enclosed kitchen with a 10-foot-long, windowed and enclosed dining area that is adjacent to a 20-foot-long living room.
