Carter's Review
In a very unusual conversion project, four low-rise buildings on one side of a street in Brooklyn Heights and a low-rise building across the street are being converted to residential use by Manhattan Skyline/Sterling Equities.
The four low-rise buildings, ranging in height from four to five stories, were formerly garages.
The development is known as Love Lane Mews and it has been designed by the Stephen B. Jacobs Group. It will have 38 residential condominium apartments with gas fireplaces and two townhouse units.
The units, some of which will have exterior space, will range in size from 930 to 3,442 square feet and have ceilings of 10 to 15 feet.
Kitchens will have Jet Mist stone countertops, clear glass tile backsplashes and cherry wood cabinetry.
The project will have a full-time doorman and resident superintendent and Sky s the Limit concierge service by Abigail Michaels. It will also have a fitness center, bicycle storage, and 22 parking spaces for sale to the residents.
Initial pricing ranges from $1,050,000 to $4,250,000 and occupancy is expected in the Spring.
The project involved aligning the buildings on the west side of the street at the basement level and creating an interior garden. The Landmarks Preservation Commission approved the plans, which called for one-story, setback rooftop additions, in 2007.
The project, which is known as 9 College Place and also 42-50 Love Lane, is replacing about 400 parking spaces in garages on the site. Building permits for the entire project were issued in August, 2010.
