Carter's Review
This 5-story building at 28 Starr Street between Central and Wilson avenues in the Bushwick section of Brooklyn is notable for its dramatic and confusing façade. It has 24 rental apartments.
It was designed by Charles Mallea and built in 2016 by Starr Two Eight LLC, which is headed by Lazer Waldman.
It is close to a M subway station at Broadway and Myrtle Avenue.
Bottom Line
This low-rise, rental building in Bushwick is a deconstructivist’s dream with its spiderweb-like façade.
Description
The façade is composed of gray panels and has three large windows with projecting frames spread across it and not hidden by the dark vertical framing with many diagonals of many windows that rises up to slightly over the roof’s handsome railing.
That railing thematically picks up the horizontal fence on parts of the ground floor that contain sidewalk landscaping.
