Carter's Review

Marketing begun in 2009 for Merritt House, the attractive, pre-war, mid-block, residential condominium building at 167 East 82nd Street.

The building was designed was Schwartz & Gross and erected in 1930. The 10-story, red-brick building has 38 apartments and four professional units.

It has a canopied entrance with a fan-shaped transom window and sidewalk landscaping. There is a vestibule and a four-step-down, attended lobby with a vaulted ceiling. The first floor has a children s playroom, a fitness center and a dining room with catering kitchen, all with windows overlooking the building's landscaped courtyard.

The building's has one- and two-bedroom apartments, all with wood-burning fireplaces and windowed, eat-in kitchens with marble floors with mosaic borders, and stainless steel appliances, and bathrooms with Cr¿me Marfil marble floors with mosaic patterns. Apartments also have Bosch washers and dryers and the building has a storage room.

The two-bedroom apartments have 15-foot-8-inch-by-11-foot-2-inch dining rooms.

Stonehenge Partners Inc., is the sponsor of the condominium conversion and Andres Escobar & Associates is the interior designer for the project.

The building is on the same block as Le Refuge and Girasole restaurants and the Lascoff Pharmacy.
