Carter's Review
An attempt was made in 1982 to convert this large and handsome industrial building at 505 Court Street in the Carroll Gardens section of Brooklyn to a cooperative but the plan was not declared effective and for a quarter of a century more it remained a rental apartment building.
In 2004, there was an attempt to converted it to a condominium but it ran into numerous problems over insider prices, construction and price cuts, so much so that curbed.com ran an item November 14, 2007 entitled "The Court Street Lofts Timeline of Despair almost 20 entries.
Finally, it was converted that year with 124 apartments by Urban Residential whose other New York projects included 505 Greenwich Street and 255 Hudson Street.
It is notable for its high ceilings and for its garden that is more than a quarter of an acre.
It has a roof deck, a lobby attendant, a canopied entrance, a resident superintendent, GE Profile stainless steel kitchen appliances and granite countertops and Shaker style cabinetry.
