Between the soaring ceilings and open layouts seen in so much new construction, designers all over New York are clearly paying tribute to prewar architecture. But there's one thing that these new buildings have a harder time replicating: the exposed brick found in the industrial conversions and residences of yesteryear.
Like all interior design trends, this one might not necessarily be for everyone. Apartment Therapy notes that some interior brick walls were put up with lower quality bricks than the exterior, which can lead to the shedding of red brick dust without a proper sealant.
