111 West 57th Street, New York's most slender skyscraper and one of its tallest, has racked up another superlative: The top sale of the past week was a full-floor sponsor unit on the 45th floor that sold for $26,500,000. The buyer purchased the three-bedroom, three and a half-bath condo under an entity dubbed Tchaikovsky 1812 LLC, most likely as a nod to the building's connection to the landmarked Steinway Hall.
The top downtown sale of the past week was the second-highest sale overall and likely the most star-studded: Oscar-nominated and Tony Award-winning actor Hugh Jackman purchased a penthouse at the Jean Nouvel-designed 100 Eleventh Avenue for $21,125,000. The Wall Street Journal made the announcement and reported that the penthouse had been on and off the market since October 2021, when it was originally priced at $25,000,000. The sale comes about two months after Mr. Jackman and his wife, Deborra-Lee Furness, listed their West Village penthouse for $38,900,000.
In this article:
The top co-op sale of the past week took place at the Emery Roth-designed 875 Fifth Avenue, where #10M sold for $8,285,000 in an off-market deal. The seller was acclaimed cinematographer Robert B. Richardson; over the course of his collaborations with directors like Oliver Stone, Martin Scorcese, and Quentin Tarantino, he has won three Academy Awards for his work on JFK, The Aviator, and Hugo, and been nominated for seven more. He has two movies currently in the pipeline, but his next real estate move is not yet known.
