Carter's Review

Occupying one of the key corners in midtown, this white-brick apartment building at 200 East 57th Street on the southeast corner at Third Avenue is very convenient to midtown and not far from Bloomingdale’s.

The 19-story building was erected in 1961 as a co-operative.  It has 199 apartments.

It was designed by Hyman Isaac Feldman, whose other buildings in the city include the Park Lane Tower at 185 East 85th Street, and 1025 Fifth Avenue.

Bottom Line

In a prime midtown location for decorators and antiques and close to Bloomingdale’s, this white-brick apartment building has a lovely rear garden and spacious layouts that make up for the area’s considerable traffic.

Description

The white brick building has setbacks beginning at the 14th floor, some of which have angled corner windows.

For many years, its large corner retail space was occupied by very elegant concerns such as Maurice Villency furniture and Schumacher fabrics.

The building has a very attractive and lushly landscaped rear garden.

Amenities

The building has a doorman and concierge, a gym, a garage, a roof deck, a live-in superintendent, and an attractive lobby.
