Carter's Review

Gallery House is a 20-story apartment building erected in 1962 at 77 West 55th Street on the northeast corner at the Avenue of the Americas.

It was designed by Horace Ginsbern & Associates.

The building has a 24-hour doorman, concierge, and live-in super. It also has a roofdeck, storage room, and central laundry room. Its avenue frontage is occupied by E. Klein's, a supermarket. It is pet friendly.

It has some angle corner windows, sidewalk landscaping and an entrance marquee.

It has 186 condominium apartments.

Its most famous resident was Paul Desmond, the great alto saxophonist who was a member of the Dave Brubeck Quartet. He died in 1977.

The building is close to the Theater District, the Museum of Modern Art, Central Park, Columbus Circle, Fifth/Madison Avenue shopping, the 57th Street crosstown bus, and the N, Q, R, W, A, C, B, D, and 1 trains. Pied-a-terres are allowed.

There are two capital assessments of $163.50 each. The first one terminates August 31, 2019 and the second one ends February 28th, 2020.
