Overview of 135 East 71st Street

135 East 71st Street is a 17-story, 101-unit building designed as a coop by Sylvan and Bob Bien in 1959, but the elevators and the lobby have been recently renovated to meet 21st-century standards. The building's entrance is flanked by a magnificent planted garden, and there is a full-time door staff, resident manager, adjacent garage, children's playroom, and fitness center.

This section of the Upper East Side is rich in great restaurants, many gourmet food shops, sophisticated fashion boutiques, and antique stores.

Central Park and many world famous museums are moments away.

Carter’s Review

"This attractive, 17-story, beige-brick apartment house has a central Upper East Side location that is convenient to excellent local shopping and many restaurants and is close to many of the city's best boutiques, art galleries, clubs and museums.

The building has a one-story polished red granite base, a doorman, some terraces, nice sidewalk landscaping, discrete air-conditioners and a garage. It is located on a very nice, quiet street."

Broker & Buyer Comments

Lobby is not so modern however its clean and the furniture is new. Every floor in the building in terms of the decor is different. Supposedly the tenants on each floor can decorate as they like.

They are extremely formal and by the book. After a board interview it take them about a week or so to give final word. Board package is extensive and must be exact.

Awesome.....beautiful block...
