Carter's Review

This attractive, 7-story apartment building at 236 17th Street at Fifth Avenue in South Park Slope in Brooklyn was erected in 2017 by the Prospect Construction Corporation, which is headed by Nicholas Malafis and Ioannis Glyptis who were also the team behind 683 Fourth Avenue and a new development at 337 11th Street. 

It has 17 condominium apartments and was designed by Tom Winter. 

The building is known as The Aaron, a reference to Aaron's Department Store, which was on the corner of Fifth Avenue and 17th Street for 40 years before closing in 2007.

Bottom Line

This handsome boutique condominium apartment building in South Park Slope is notable for its non-aligned fenestration pattern at one of its corners and its nice amenities.

Description

The building has an asymmetrical appearance with a dramatic, non-aligned fenestration pattern at its main corner at Fifth Avenue and balconies at its two other corners. 

The stop floor of the building is partially setback at its corners and faced with gray metallic panels.

It has a virtual doorman, an resident manager, a fitness center, parking, a landscaped roof deck, a bicycle room, a screening room, a lounge and each apartment has a storage unit.

Apartments have walk-in closets, open kitchens with Bosch kitchen appliances and wide plank floors.  Bathrooms have Duravit tubs and Keuco Royal Match medicine cabinets. 

Apartment 7A is a three-bedroom unit with 1,474 square feet with two terraces, a 17-foot-wide living area with an open kitchen with a breakfast bar and a balcony off one of the bedrooms. 

Apartment 6A is a three-bedroom unit with 1,424 square feet, an 18-foot-long living room adjacent to a 12-foot-wide dining area with a balcony and an open kitchen with a breakfast bar.  The main bedroom has a balcony. 

Apartment 6B is a two-bedroom unit with 1,022 square feet and a 17-foot-long living area with an open kitchen with a breakfast bar. 

Apartment 6C is a one-bedroom unit with 648 square feet with a 15-foot-long living area with a balcony and an open kitchen with a breakfast bar.
