These twin, pre-war, 6-story buildings at 223 and 225 West 10th Street between Bleecker and Hudson streets in the Greenwich Village Historic District have a total of 42 condominium apartments. They were built in 1893 and converted from rentals by Time Equities Inc.
They are close to a PATH station on Christopher Street.
Bottom Line
These nicely detailed late 19th Century buildings have a good central location in the West Village near many boutiques and restaurants.
Description
The beige-brick, walk-up buildings have large arched windows on the second floor and arched windows on the third and fifth floors.
The buildings have a two-story, rusticated brownstone base and one-step-up entrances and seven-step-up lobbies.
The buildings also have cornices and four piers between the third and fourth floors that have detailed heads at their bases and there are also heads in the keystones of many of the buildings’ arches.
The third floor has six thin red horizontal bands.
There are fire escapes on both buildings and ground floor retail space.
