Carter's Review
This handsome, buff-brick, 41-story apartment building at 2 Columbus Avenue Street was erected in 1998.
The building, which also has an address of 401-3 West 59th Street, a condominium and has 133 units.
It was developed by The Brodsky Organization, Quinlan & Field Inc., and Peter M. Lehrer, the former chairman of Lehrer McGovern Bovis Inc., a construction company. They financed the development with their own money and a construction loan from Bayerische Hypo-und-Vereinsbank.
The developers acquired the site and air rights from the parish of St. Paul the Apostle Roman Catholic Church, a neighbor, at an auction when they were selected over nine other bidders.
The building was designed by Buck & Cane Architects.
Peter Claman designed the interiors.
This tower is close to the Riverside South developments of the Trump and Extell organizations to the north and it also not too far from Central Park.
Bottom Line
This is a full-service condominium tower that used air rights from the adjacent to the St. Paul the Apostle Roman Catholic Church near the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts.

It has no sidewalk landscaping and no roof deck.

With the completion in 2004 of the nearby Time Warner Center on the former site of the New York Coliseum on Columbus Circle, this neighborhood has become one of the liveliest in the city.
Several glossy new apartment towers were erected in the vicinity about a decade after this was built.
The site was formerly a church parking lot.
