Like the weather outside, the Manhattan's sale market has been heating up. Major brokerage Brown Harris Stevens reports in their Second Quarter Manhattan Residential Market Report that apartment transactions across the island are surging, not only when compared to oh-so-dismal 2020, but even exceeding pre-COVID-19 levels in many areas. Closed apartment deals are up 38% compared to the previous quarter and are more than double 2020’s locked-down second quarter. With demand exploding, supply has steadily fallen resulting in prices creeping higher. The report notes that high-end condo sales have led the way, driving the average price paid for a Manhattan apartment is 8% higher than it was a year ago.
