We still can't say for certain what effect the COVID-19 pandemic will have on the New York real estate market, but some things cannot be overlooked: Virtual and video tours are on the rise, but the number of listings on the market is falling. As a microcosm, a total of only 37 apartments and townhouses for sale experienced price cuts in the past seven days. A large number of rental apartments saw price drops as well.
It is interesting to note that the Trump effect remains in full force in New York. If anything, the past week might suggest it has been amplified in the wake of reports of how the president and his administration misjudged the severity of the crisis. An apartment at Trump International saw the largest price cut of the past week, and apartments in Trump-branded buildings were among the sales listings with reduced prices.
