Fab Collabs: The Marimekko Shop at Crate & Barrel
OCTOBER 22, 2010
Longtime fans and followers of Scandi pattern genius Marimekko are pleased as punch to find a trove of their favorite prints at the familiar home-furnishings store.
A new level of collaboration between Finnish textile design house Marimekko and Crate & Barrel has set up shop at the home-decor standby’s Soho location at 611 Broadway and Houston Street.
The Marimekko Shop at Crate & Barrel is dedicated exclusively to Marimekko textiles, bags, bed, bath and kitchen accessories and other home goodies as well as kids’ clothes, and furniture is reportedly a future partnership possibility. CB has carried the colorful, Asian-inspired textiles since its 1967 beginnings, but the new shop aims to focus on the textile company’s timeless and instantly recognizable designs.
The shop-within-a-shop occupies a 1,775 square foot swath of the home store, painted crisp white with blond wood floors to make the Marimekko patterns pop and maintain a Finnish feel. You’ll find more photos of the colorful covetables and the opening festivities at Racked.
