Love Art, Will Travel

JANUARY 9, 2009

The best way to gallery-hop is with an artist.

NYTCAP (The New York-Texan’s Crashing Art Parties) weekly art opening tours
In order to give you more of a reason to visit Chelsea's galleries with other art-lovers, James "j-No" Nova—an artist and photographer—has been organizing weekly parties to include gallery openings for painting, photography, sculpture, performance art, video, graphic design, and special music events, with optional, informal post-art dinners. According to Nova, unlike other art tours, "we save the commentary for dinner conversation, concentrating instead on taking in as much art as possible (12-15 galleries on average) in the time allotted (generally 2 - 2 1/2 hours) and having FUN." Members include artists and other creative individuals with an interest in contemporary art and people-watching, and well-planned itineraries help participants get the most out of their evening.

Thursdays, 6-8pm (September - May)
Post-art dining (optional, additional cost): 8:30pm (Reservations required)
Chelsea art district (usually)
Full itinerary & map with dining location available 24 hours prior to event by email RSVP. Itineraries & map will also be handed out at each week's meetup location.
Price: $5 (free with valid, current student ID)
