New Developments In The News

SEPTEMBER 22, 2008

New towers in Manhattan continue to rise despite current financial markets

A 12-story residential condominium is going up at 303 East 33rd Street and Second Avenue in Murray Hill. The LEED-certified residence should be finished next year, and will be home to apartments with bamboo flooring, floor-to-ceiling windows and crave-worthy kitchens and baths. But with a lobby of volcanic stone and green-gold quartzite, a 5,000-square-foot landscaped roof terrace with a reflecting pool, bocce court and outdoor barbecue and dining area, a media lounge, a children’s playroom and much more, who needs an apartment?

Just revealed: The design for the 57-story tower at 56 Leonard Street in TriBeCa, designed by Herzog & de Meuron (of 40 Bond street fame). Like the under construction One Jackson Square, the new condominium tower will feature glass curtain walls and irregular floor plates. In addition, each floor will be rotated to stand out from floors above and below. Two floors of community space will include a 75-foot infinity edge pool, a sundeck, a fitness center, a spa, a library lounge, a screening room, a conference room and a TriBeCa Tot Room. The new residence is expected to be completed in late 2010.
