City moves to cap building heights in Third Avenue corridor and West Village; Dolly Lenz quits the Apthorp over not getting paid

The City Planning Commission has given the green light to rezoning plans for two sections of the East and West Village. The first covers an eight block area along Third and Fourth Avenues. This “architecture alley” has seen a recent boom in high-rise buildings, including high-profile boutique hotels and academic buildings. The second zone includes Washington and Greenwich streets from West 12th to West 10th Streets. The rezoning plans, which would limit new buildings to twelve and eight stories, respectively, are directed toward preserving neighborhood character.

Top real estate agent Dolly Lenz of Prudential Douglas Elliman has withdrawn her team from sales and marketing duty at the Apthorp apartment building at Broadway and 79th Street, citing unpaid commissions and other unresolvable issues. Star broker Lenz was brought onboard to clinch sales at the condo conversion as the sales deadline loomed. A statement from the firm claims that over $110,000,000 worth of units were sold during their (and Lenz’s) tenure in the position.
