New park plans revealed for the St. Vincent’s triangle in the Village; Former St. Clare’s Hospital will be apartments, hopefully an improvement from current abandoned eyesore
Rudin Management has presented the latest set of plans for the triangle at the intersection of Seventh Avenue, 12th Street and Greenwich Avenue in Greenwich Village. Previously owned by St. Vincent’s Hospital across the street, the triangular block has been used for truck storage; the new plans—for an area surrounded by residential buildings—detail a 15,102-square-foot park with over 600 seats.
The Chetrit Group has announced plans to convert the former St. Clare’s Hospital at 415 West 51st Street to apartments. Closed in 2007, the hospital building has stood vacant since, attracting rats, crime and negative attention. The Chetrit Group addressed concerns about the the state of the building now and during the planned renovation by pledging to provide a contact person to meet with the block association once a month.
