The nation's tallest building gets a new name, Soho gets a new condo and St. Vincent's gets some good news

Commercial real estate firm Cushman & Wakefield has announced that global insurance broker Willis Group Holdings has leased more than 140,000 square feet in Chicago's Sears Tower, and that its owners will subsequently rename it Willis Tower. Since it opened in 1973, the Tower Formerly Known As Sears has had the distinction of being the nation's tallest.

Marketing has started for the 8-unit, 9-story residential condominium building at 350 West Broadway in Soho. Hoping for an auspicious start for a residence that boasts a "limited collection of storied homes," developers have worked a bit of tongue-in-cheek into its website: Do you really want a lobby that "sees it all"? Come to think of it, do you want to "Wake up in heaven"?

The Landmarks Preservation Commission has voted to approve plans for a new hospital tower to replace the O'Toole Building on the west side of Seventh Avenue between 12th and 13th Streets as part of an ambitious expansion plan by St. Vincent's Hospital.
