Notable NYC Neighbors: Ichiro Eyes Midtown Triplex Penthouse, Mariska Hargitay Buys UWS Townhouse

Law & Order: UWS; Ichiro seeks a NYC home base; live next door to Padma Lakshmi; Capt. Picard sets a course for brownstone Brooklyn.
“Law & Order” star Mariska Hargitay just put the cuffs on a $10.7 million Upper West Side townhouse. The family-sized 18-foot-wide, 6-bedroom, 9-bath home features an elevator, a private garden with a built-in grill, a sun room, two terraces and and a sleek, glass-clad penthouse – all under one roof. The ask for the uptown manse in the West 80s near Central Park was $12.5M, but the sale price still made the sellers, Magnum Real Estate Group, a tidy sum; they paid $4.4 million in 2009 (CurbedNY).
Newly-minted Yankees star Ichiro Suzuki recently toured a triplex penthouse at the 48-story Cassa condo/hotel at 70 West 45th Street. The apartment has a $60,000-a-month rental price tag. The four-bedroom pad features embossed leather floors, state-of-the-art electronics, a private roof deck and killer city views, with daily hotel services like housekeeping available a la carte (NYPost).
If you want celebrity neighbors, there’s a penthouse on the market at SoHo 25 at 25 West Houston Street that will have you sharing a doorman with foxy foodie Padma Lakshmi and TV star Julianna Margulies. The $8 million-plus ask will also get you 3,267 square feet, three bedrooms, 14-foot ceilings and a large landscaped terrace (NYPost).
Bragging rights to Frank Sinatra’s former apartment could be yours if you lived in the penthouse at 530 East 72nd Street that just hit the market for $7.7 million. The Rat Packer himself helped design the duplex – he lived there from 1961 to 1972 –which features a glass spiral staircase, 18-foot ceilings and access to a private gym (CurbedNY).
Patrick Stewart will be dodging strollers and enjoying the park from his new $2 million home in Park Slope. Capt. Picard reportedly bought a place in the ‘Slope with plenty of outside space and lots of bedrooms. Picard recently starred in a production of Shakespeare’s Macbeth at nearby BAM (Brownstoner).
Former Oasis rocker Liam Gallagher will be moving to a $2.5 million condo in the Jumeirah Essex House at 160 Central Park South. The 17th floor apartment comes with hotel perks like 24-hour room service (NYObserver).
