Madonna sells Harperley home; Bill Murray’s apartment is for rent; super-sized properties ask super-sized prices in refined Beekman and trendy TriBeCa.
The penthouse duplex that has been home to actor Bill Murray since 2008 is on the rental market, asking $12,500 per month. The renovated two-bedroom apartment at The Villager at 450 Sixth Avenue (pictured) in Greenwich Village has a spiral staircase leading to the master bedroom, which opens onto a large private terrace (NYPost).
Madonna has finally found a buyer for her Upper West Side combo co-op at Harperley Hall at 41 Central Park West. The 6,000-square-foot duplex was recently purchased by a hedge fund manager for a notable discount from its asking price of $19.9 million, (already chopped from its original $23-plus million ask) (CurbedNY).
An apartment at 101 Central Park West that was home to Marc Gershwin, son of George and Ira Gershwin’s brother, Arthur, for three decades, recently changed hands for $5.4 million. The Gershwin scion–he has trusteeship over the famous brothers’ body of work–sold the 15th floor pre-war “classic seven” co-op with park views after a year of trying, including having the co-op board nix a previous buyer. 101 Central Park West is also home to Mayor Bloomberg’s younger daughter, Georgina, who owns a 2,100-square-foot, three-bedroom apartment in the building (NYObserver).

A Beekman Place townhouse, redesigned by modernist architect Paul Rudolph, who once lived in its penthouse, is on the market for $27.5 million. The building at 23 Beekman Place is divided into four impressive apartments, which each have a full-length rear balcony and individually rent for as much as $13,700 a month (NYObserver).
Director Peter Jackson (The Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit) recently listed his two as-of-yet-uncombined TriBeCa penthouse condos at 155 Franklin Street for $21.5 million. The pair of duplexes, with significant architectural planning, permits and approvals already in place, will add up to 6,100 square feet with over 4k feet of private outdoor space, state-of-the-art HVAC systems and much more (CurbedNY).
