Paul Pierce nets a lofty rental; the last of Huguette Clark’s Fifth Avenue homes is sold; Tommy Hilfiger’s pricey Plaza penthouse hits the market; An architectural gem on CPW seeks a deep-pocketed buyer.
Though he plays for the Brooklyn Nets, NBA star Paul Pierce calls Manhattan home. The former Boston Celtics forward recently signed a lease on a 5,000-square-foot, 4+ bedroom apartment at 90 Franklin Street in TriBeCa with a $35,000 a month rental price tag. The prewar condo conversion building was formerly the Corn Exchange Bank. In addition to the private full-floor pad with open views from four exposures, Pierce and his wife, Julie, will have Mariah Carey for a neighbor (CurbedNY).
Less than a month after her estate settled her $300 million will, 8E, the last of late reclusive copper heiress Huguette Clark‘s co-op apartments at 907 Fifth Avenue, was recently sold for $6.8 million–significantly lower than its $12 million ask. The reason behind the discount on what was originally a 5,000-square-foot, 12-room unit is its diminished size: Financier Fred Iseman paid $22.5 mil for Clark’s other 8th floor apartment, 8W, plus a significant portion of 8E, last year (CoopSales).

After an unsuccessful attempt to sell his Plaza penthouse at 768 Fifth Avenue for $50 million in 2008, preppy sportswear mogul Tommy Hilfiger and his wife, Dee Ocleppo, have once again put the four-bedroom duplex (a combo of three units) back on the market–for $80 million. In addition to a $20 million renovation, the 6,000-square-foot 18th- and 19th-floor penthouse has 35-foot-high ceilings, a terrace with Central Park views and a dining room in one of the building’s domed turret towers whose walls bear a custom-painted Eloise mural by the iconic book’s illustrator (NYPost).
Billionaire philanthropist Jon Stryker recently listed his duplex penthouse atop the Prasada (pictured), a Shelton Mindel-designed French Second Empire-style residence at 50 Central Park West, for a head-turning $48 million. Now an impressive 5,600 square feet with 2,500 square feet of private outdoor space, Stryker paid about $12.8 million in 2002 for what was then a pair of contiguous three-bedroom units. The apartment’s multi-level roof terrace is landscaped to include an thicket of potted trees, a lawn and a corner dining terrace with heart-stopping wraparound views. Notable neighbors in the building include screenwriter Melissa Mathison (Harrison Ford’s ex) and Hollywood power couple Melanie Griffith and Antonio Banderas (RealEstalker).
