Holly Hunter lists her Village co-op; ScarJo goes penthouse shopping; Dustin Hoffman sells in the San Remo; Rupert Murdoch’s ex takes the Fifth Avenue apartment.
Actress Holly Hunter has just listed her 3,000-square-foot, three-bedroom apartment on lower Fifth Avenue for $8.7 million. The corner co-op in a 1905 Beaux-Arts building at 43 Fifth Avenue features details like molding and paneling, stained glass and a fireplace. The Oscar-winner purchased the unit from Julia Roberts for $4.1 million in 2005 (CurbedNY).
Scarlett Johansson, on the other hand, is looking to buy in NYC. The actress recently viewed a $4 million penthouse at 230 East 63rd Street and a high-floor three-bedroom duplex asking $3.69 million in the Silk Building at 14 East Fourth Street, a pre-war converted condominium building at the crossroads of NoHo, SoHo and the East Village (NYPost).
Another Oscar-winner, Dustin Hoffman, recently sold his mega-triplex in the coveted San Remo at 145 Central Park West (pictured). The 8,000-square-foot apartment, which also offers two terraces, changed hands for $21,018,500. The capacious co-op’s floor plan combines what was once at least three units and spans the 15th, 16th and 17th floors of the legendary Emery Roth-designed Art Deco residence, which Hoffman has called home since the 1970s. An impressive roster of celebrity neighbors past and present includes Steven Spielberg, Donna Karan, Glenn Close, Steve Martin, Tiger Woods, Diane Keaton, Tony Randall, Demi Moore and Steve Jobs (RealEstalker).
Wendi Deng, ex-wife of global media kingpin Rupert Murdoch, bought ownership of the couple’s apartment at 834 Fifth Avenue from the billionaire Newscorp head for $34 million. The Murdochs purchased the triplex on the co-op building’s 14th, 15th and 16th floors from the estate of Laurance Rockefeller, son of John D. Rockefeller, in 2005. The apartment includes 4,000 square feet of terrace space. The building’s co-op board is notoriously selective and requires buyers to pay all cash for their apartments (TRD).
