NYC Real Estate Roundup

Chelsea’s +aRt condominium at 540 West 28th Street is reportedly 90% sold. The 13-story condo, marketed to art lovers–one of its units, still available, was featured as an Elle Decor Modern Life Concept House–offers studios and one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments (CurbedNY).
Yet another big-ticket closing at the legendary 15 Central Park West, this time a $23.35 million tower apartment. In addition to peerless park and river views, the apartment comes with a 20-foot library and a park-side “triple parlor” (NYObserver).
Feeling an impending political and economic pinch, a new wave of French nationals are investing in New York City real estate, with Trump SoHo emerging as one possible favorite. Given the recent batch of French fashion brands that have been transforming the West Village, they should feel right at home (via The Real Deal).
New home sales are on the uptick: According to the Commerce Department, sales of newly-built homes rose 3.3% between March and April and were up 9.9% from the previous year. The sales bump is fueling optimism for the housing market’s recovery. Luxury condo developers Toll Brothers, developer of NYC condos like 205 Water Street, 303 East 33rd Street, and Brooklyn’s Northside Piers, reported that contracts for the quarter that ended April 30 were up 47% from the previous year (WSJ).
The decision to add more and bigger ships to the East River ferry fleet in anticipation of summer crowds is good news for Brooklyn residents. Weekend trips to and from DUMBO, Greenpoint and Williamsburg will become even more convenient once ferry capacity rises to 399 passengers, more than twice the current capacity (BrooklynPaper).
More good news for residents of Williamsburg and Greenpoint: McCarren Pool will be open on June 28. Even if you don’t fancy a dip, the blue water in the two-sided pool looks pretty cool from the roof deck of parkside buildings like Northpoint Towers at 76 Engert Avenue and 215 North 11th Street (via Open Space Alliance of North Brooklyn).
