Secondhand Rose: One-of-a-Kind Wallpaper and More

JANUARY 30, 2009

A favorite of set designers, stylists and connoisseurs since the '60s, this still-special Tribeca shop has the home décor items you're looking for.

Stores stocked with the latest and trendiest in home décor have popped up on every block. Since 1963, Suzanne Lipschutz, owner of the Tribeca antique shop Secondhand Rose, has obsessively scoured the globe for rare vintage wallpaper and linoleum. Her library of over 2,500 wallpaper patterns (She claims it's the world's largest) includes French, South American, Victorian, Art Deco, florals, geometrics (including Frank Lloyd Wright originals), period patterns, novelties, and more. The beautiful, unforgettable pieces are in pristine condition. Her collection, which dates from the 1860's to 1970, has been featured on Martha Stewart and has been collected by important museums throughout the world. She suggests finding a professional to install her wallpapers and flooring, as "they are costly and require loving care to install."

Secondhand Rose also offers the above-mentioned collection of vintage linoleum from the turn of the century to the 1950's (when they stopped producing true linoleum, which was made from oxidized linseed oil).
