Teatime Shopping in a Cozy Uptown Concept Store

FEBRUARY 12, 2010

New concept shop Fair Folks & a Goat may have an odd name, but the idea behind the Upper East Side shop makes perfect sense.

In the comfy studio apartment on East 88th Street—former home of Anthony Mazzei, one of the store’s owner—visitors can browse vintage and contemporary furniture in the main room and pick through closetfuls of vintage and new designer clothing.

The shop’s homey setup is intended to create a warmer, more personal shopping experience, and to give visitors a chance to see how an item might look and feel outside of its existence on a rack. Prices range from $28 cheap-chic vintage and local-designer accessories like leggings to $9920 for a sofa. Mazzei and partner Aurora Stokowski are also offering the space for bridal showers, art openings and trunk shows, and they’re going for a “contemporary tearoom feel,” so you can linger over a warm cup of tea even if you don’t buy anything. The shop is currently open on Saturdays and Sundays from 1 to 6 PM and other times by appointment.
