The fall festival juggernaut continues with an old-school New York lit-fest, a classic Brooklyn bash, a monster modern music event and much, much more.
The New Yorker Festival
Nothing says New York City quite like The New Yorker, and this annual affair is a celebration of all that the venerable publication embodies, including readings by famous writers, conversations with celebrities, panel discussions, concerts and much more at top venues throughout the city.

Atlantic Antic
This annual mile-long mother-of-all-street-fairs celebrates the best of Brooklyn before Brooklyn was a destination, and it’s back for another year of shopping, music, food and fun on the Avenue.

Bring to Light: Nuit Blanche New York 2011
Paris and other cities throughout the world observe the tradition of celebrating art and life in one October all-nighter known as Nuit Blanche (“white night” or “all-nighter”). New York City will be hosting its own festival this year with site-specific installations of light, sound, performance and projection art, creating an immersive spectacle along the parks and industrial waterfront spaces of Greenpoint, Brooklyn.

Kid Stuff: Story Pirates
Using stories submitted by children, the Story Pirates create outlandishly funny sketches and mini-musicals that leave kids and their parents howling in the aisles. This creative, educational and fun experience will be at Symphony Space to kick off the 2011 school year.

Issue Project Room Benefit Art Auction
Issue Project Room, one of the city’s best under-the-radar cultural centers, is holding its annual fundraising auction featuring an impressive collection of unusual works by modern and contemporary artists like Cindy Sherman, Andy Warhol, John Waters, Yoko Ono and more. The event promises to be an evening to remember, with performances by Kim Gordan, Tony Conrad and auctioneering by Ned Sublette.

Live Music Round-Up
All Tomorrow’s Parties (ATP) uber-festival at Asbury Park is the big event this weekend, music-wise, with a fair sampling of the best in modern music spanning two centuries. A number of participating artists will be appearing at venues around town while they’re in town for the festival including the elusive Jeff Mangum, Swans, Radiohead, Marnie Stern and Portishead.
