Le Grand Fooding 2011 Campfire Session
We’ve tired of wine-, beer- and sake-food pairings and have moved on to the admittedly interesting cute-musician-food pairings! This unique event features creatively crafted meals from tuneful talent like James Murphy (LCD Soundsystem) and chefs with chops like Wylie Dufresne (WD-150), and more in the lush and lovely Elizabeth Street Garden. A portion of ticket proceeds will go to Action Against Hunger/ACF International.

Elizabeth Street Garden, 226 Mott Street
Tickets: $50
Women: Inspiration & Enterprise (WIE) Symposium
The WIE Symposium is a forum for exceptional role models to make themselves available to inspire and empower the next generation; women of diverse cultures, ages and backgrounds come together to share inspirational stories and ideas. This year’s hosts include Sarah Brown, Donna Karan and Arianna Huffington, and a diiverse range of speakers come from the worlds of business, fashion, media, philanthropy and politics.
September 18-19, check site for schedule and tickets.

Live Music Round-Up
Punk godmamas The Raincoats bring a rare performance to Warsaw; The Hold Steady hold down a not-so-secret show at Beekman Beer Garden; The Pains of Being Pure at Heart offer a poppy antidote to the end-of-summer blues at Bowery Ballroom; Deerhoof will undoubtedly bring the smart set to Music Hall of Williamsburg; for fans of the Philharmonic, actor Christopher Plummer, who turns 82 this year, will be portraying Shakespeare’s Henry V with the accompaniment of the New York Philharmonic at Avery Fisher Hall.
