Carter Horsley's Review of The Amherst

Carter Horsley's Building Review
"This 20-story, red-brick apartment house is impressive because of the simple setbacks with angled corners of its top five floors that give it an unexpected gracefulness given its imposing mass. Built in 1959, it was converted to a cooperative in 1989. Most of its 250 apartments have very broad picture windows. Convenient to neighborhood shopping, the building, which has a doorman and concierge, is also near many popular restaurants and just a few blocks away from Sotheby's, the auction house, at York Avenue and 72nd Street. Crosstown buses run on 72nd Street, two blocks away." Read Carter's Full Review
